It is time for some serious "catch-up". I complain of being busy so much but you'd never know it by looking my blog! Shame on me... ;)

Preschool Field Trip

We had the pleasure of a trip out to the country with Evan's preschool this month. Since it was a morning field trip & Averie has afternoon kindergarten, she got to join us. We went to a nearby farm which has opened to the public & does tours for the little ones. They had LOTS of baby animals (being spring & all) which were fun to see and pet, a hay ride & two oxen... not cows... oxen. They are actually descendants of the original oxen the farmers ancestors used to cross Canada when they settled in BC. They were ENORMOUS!! The farmer was around 5' 10" and was probably a foot shorter than the ridge of the their backs.... 3500lbs EACH! Insane!

The kids had lots of fun & had many cute animal encounters...

Without thinking, I gave Brynlea her bottle right before we went into the goat pen...
she was very popular with the goats & was NOT happy about it!

Summer Birthdays

Averie & Evan both have summer birthdays. Being pregnant in the summer was less than pleasant but every birthday since then has been GREAT! I personally love that they have summer birthdays as we usually just head to a nearby lake for a joint beach party - everybody's happy, my house stays intact (along with my sanity), there is no pressure to invite the entire kindergarten and/or preschool class... all great things...

For Averie, there is one major drawback (and having a summer birthday myself I can sympathize)... not being sung to or getting the "birthday girl" treatment at school.

Fortunately, she has an excellent kindergarten teacher who has taken this into account. We recieved a slip of paper home in Averie's backpack which read:

"As Averie has a summer birthday, we will be singing to her & celebrating her birthday on Friday, May 15"

Of course, we had to whip up some cupcakes (with sprinkles!) for her to bring to class & she was elated... (in case you haven't noticed - Averie loves to be the center of attention - gee, I wonder where she could have gotten THAT from?)

Gotta love Free Family Fun!!

Saturday our city's Early Childhood Educators hosted a Family Fun Day - Lots of booths:

There was also a pizza lunch (with bottled water), popcorn, balloon animals, face painting, Discovery Toys to play with & bubbles galore...

All for FREE!!

THAT'S Why my windows are so dirty!!
